Medicare Plans

There are two main ways to get your Medicare coverage: Original Medicare or a Medicare Advantage Plan.

Original Medicare is comprised of Part A (Hospital Insurance) and Part B (Medical Insurance). To help pay for benefits and costs not covered under Original Medicare, many people choose to purchase a Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap) policy through a private insurance carrier. Medicare Supplement plans can cost more in premiums, but then very low or even zero out of pocket expenses for covered benefits. There are no provider networks, and you can go to any provider who accepts Medicare assignment (meaning your doctor, provider, or supplier agrees or is required by law to accept the Medicare-approved amount as full payment for covered services). For prescription coverage, you will also need to purchase a Part D (Prescription Drug Coverage) plan.
